A house for sale suffered loss due to a burglary, according to the Realtor who made the discovery.
Ozzie Webb said someone took an air-conditioning unit from behind a house for sale on Brown Avenue.
This was the second report in a matter of a few days concerning items such as air units being stolen at homes for sale.
According to a report filed by deputy Cru Ross, who began an investigation for Webb, the theft may have occurred during the past two months. Someone had reportedly been inside the house.
Criminal Investigations Division detectives responded to the scene to collect evidence.
No dollar amount was listed regarding the loss or damage.
n Cleveland Police made an arrest based on an investigation regarding a caretaker who allegedly stole property from a resident. Janet Combs was charged with two counts of theft over $1,000 and was taken into custody after investigators reportedly contacted her and began questioning her about the disappearance of pieces of a silver dinnerware set owned by the victim.
According to CPD information officer Evie West, the victim stated approximately $2,000 in silver had been taken and she suspected an employee of Medi-Home Care had taken it.
Combs was identified as a suspect. She returned to the residence to clean again, but the homeowner had counted her silverware prior to her arrival.
West said that when Combs left, the victim counted her silver items and noticed pieces missing.
Detectives contacted Combs and she agreed to talk with them, according to West.
“During the meeting, she did give the silver items she had stolen and stated that she had stolen other items as well. She also admitted to stealing a golden pendant from Jack Dooley while she had cleaned at his residence on March 26. Dooley reported the value of the pendant at $1,000. Combs stated she had sold the items to a gold dealer to get money to help out her son, who was having a difficult time,” West said.
Combs was charged with the theft at the Bradley County Jail and released after posting $10,000 bond.
