Owner loses $300K on Hedges Ave home

GOLD Coast builder Stephen Anderson walked away with a $300,000 loss last night after selling his Hedges Ave beach house for $3.35 million.

Mr Anderson paid $3.65 million for the modest oceanfront home back in December 2011, but only 16 months later he was forced to accept a lower offer on the property from a local buyer.

“I think the price was pretty good, given the state of the market,” Mr Anderson said after the auction. “But I would have been happy with more.”

The Hedges home was one of seven houses listed for auction as part of the Ray White Surfers Paradise prestige auction at Palazzo Versace.

A total of $12.3 million in residential sales were being claimed by Ray White Surfers Paradise last night after three houses sold before auction and Mr Anderson’s home sold under the hammer.

The big ticket item, 2585 Gracemere Circuit at Hope Island, which was once advertised for $25 million, was passed in with no bids while negotiations are going on for two other properties, 2126 The Circle Sanctuary Cove and 41 Norseman Court at Paradise Waters.

Ray White Surfers Paradise boss Andrew Bell said he was confident of getting sales this week.

Three prestige boats were also listed for auction but all were passed in, including a super yacht owned by the Lewis family, who developed the Sovereign Islands and Harbour Town shopping centre.

The last bid on the 31m boat was $3 million.
