FANTASY fans went madder than the late King Aerys when several properties from the hit US television show Game of Thrones were listed for sale on our sister website realestate.com.au this week.
The unreal estate in question was a development known as ‘King’s Landing’, situated at The Seven Kingdoms, which surprisingly appears to be located within the confines of Errinundra national park, Victoria.
“On the east coast of Westeros, with harbour views overlooking Blackwater Bay, King’s Landing sits around three hills,” said the advertisement. “Security is discreetly managed by the City Watch and residents are protected by a substantial wall.”
Listed additional features included water views, secret passages, a walled community, historical ruins, seven gates, heads on spikes and killer mini-golf.
Potential buyers could choose between three available properties within the development.
An 11-bedroom house at 1 Maegors Holdfast, Errinundra was listed for between 465,000 and 585,000 golden dragons. Advertised as “well suited for the royally paranoid” due to a 12 foot surrounding moat and iron spikes, it also doubled as a great entertainer, with a Queen’s ballroom that seats 100.
For those on a budget, 4 Flea Bottom, Errinundra offered a series of one-bedroom, dungeon style residences, at just 20,000 gold dragons apiece. Ideal for the scoundrel or deviant bachelor, these units provided access to amenities such as the city’s most affordable brothels and reasonably priced bowls of ‘mystery meats’.
The crowning glory of the project was 33 Tower of the Hand, Errinundra, a 27-bedroom, 16-bathroom skyscraper, featuring a dining hall with high ceilings and bench space for 200, as well as a secret passage, built by a previous owner “for those awkward ‘storming-the-castle’ moments.”
Interested parties could contact Lannister and Lannister, a local brother and sister agency team.
The online sales campaign coincided with the premiere of the immensely popular HBO program’s third season. Realestate.com.au counted 700 individual page views for the day and 15,000 social media hits.
“We love having fun with our fans and celebrating a love of property, whether in the Seven Kingdoms, or closer to home.” said Venessa Peach, Realestate.com.au senior community manager.
Fans of the TV show welcomed the listings, saying that life in the Seven Kingdoms might not be too bad, but that other locations in the show were more appealing.
“Qarth looked good at first,” said Simone du Toit. “The greatest city that ever was or will be is on the coast, wealthy, picturesque and with good weather, but recent events have made it less ideal.”
Ms du Toit said she would enjoy the constant flow of red wine, not having to go to work and the chance to spot a dragon; while some of the negatives would include white walkers, war and the threat of being murdered or kidnapped at every turn.
