The Heideloff House at 13474 Edgewater Drive, also known as the Sly mansion, is back on the market. The home has sparked controversy lately, as neighbors, not the property owners, attempted to designate the home, built in 1912, as a historic property.

The home has a listed sale price of $1,599,000, and was listed on Zillow.com on March 19. The owners, Michael and Stacey Semaan, purchased the home in June of 2011 for $750,000, but found renovating the house would be cost-prohibitive. The Semaans have stated publicly they purchased the home on the contingent it would not be designated historic.

An appeal to reconsider the designation was denied, despite arguments stating the historic designation does not prevent property owners from modifying or even demolishing the buildings designated historic.

A message left for Stacey Semaan was not immediately returned, and an attempt to contact Joe Szeman, the attorney representing the Semaans at the planning commission’s Feb. 7 meeting, was unsuccessful.
