15 Things to Know About This Week in Concord

It’s St. Patrick’s Day week and it’s a busy one in Concord. Here is everything you need to know about this week:

  1. Weather forecasters are calling for a pretty wet week with rain here and there and clouds. On Monday, expect clouds and highs in the high 40s, but showers likely in the evening. Rain will continue into Tuesday and Wednesday with similar temperatures. By Thursday, the sun peaks out, with highs in the high 30s. Expect sun on Friday too.
  2. The Concord City Democrats caucus at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The committee will elect new leaders and talk about the organization’s future. The caucus will be held at the state committee headquarters on North State Street.
  3. The Woman’s Club of Concord on Wednesday morning presents a talk with Paul Boynton addressing goals and new ideas. Tickets are $25.
  4. Also on Wednesday, Uno’s holds a doughraiser for Sam Hickey’s Relay for Life team. Mention Sam’s team and 15 percent of your bill will be donated.
  5. The next Walker Lecture Series event is Korea, Land of Contrast, featuring Buddy Hatton as he takes you on a tour of South Korea. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium and is free and open to the public.
  6. David Tonkin and other musicians will be performing at the Concord Community Music School at 12:10 p.m. as part of the Bach Lunch Series. The event is free but don’t forget your lunch.
  7. The Intown Concord general meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Kimball-Jenkins Estate carriage house. One of the highlights of the meeting will be the second annual art auction featuring all kinds of paintings produced by members of the community (including yours truly). The money from the auction will go to fund the program. Tickets are $40.
  8. Randy Susan Meyers, author of the book, “The Murderer’s Daughters,” and “The Comfort of Lies,” will be chatting and signing books at Gibson’s Bookstore at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
  9. Chuck Sink will be at The Office Suite offer social media training at 1 p.m. on Friday, specifically, Chuck looks at LinkedIn and how you can brand your business using the network. Tickets are $39.
  10. The Grace Episcopal Church hosts its free monthly community supper at 5 p.m. on Friday. Since it’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend, guess what they’ll be serving? The meal is free but donation will be accepted for the Take-A-Tote Ministry.
  11. Steve Forbes, the two-time presidential candidate, is back in Concord, this time, as the keynote speaker of the Concord City and Merrimack County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner fundraiser held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the Grappone Conference Center. Tickets are $35.
  12. Have you ever wondered about those paranormal television shows? Do you think your home is haunted? At 6 p.m., the TAG Team Paranormal Society will hold a Ghost Hunting 101 class at The Office Suite.
  13. Also at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, The Office Suite presents NH IDOL Sing For Brooklyn, a fundraiser for the late Brooklyn Bouchard. Tickets are $10 and are limited.
  14. The Concord Fire Department holds its annual awards and recognition ceremony at 7 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium.
  15. On Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m., the Junior Service League presents “Stone Soup,” at St. Paul’s School. Tickets are $5.
