THE owners of two
asbestos houses on Murdoch Street near the Moona Moona Creek bridge will be in
court tomorrow (Friday).
Despite
assurances that builders would be on site on Tuesday to begin demolishing the
two asbestos houses they remain untouched.
Shoalhaven City
Council’s director of Development Services, Tim Fletcher, said Casisea Pty Ltd
the owners of the buildings had given an undertaking to have the site cleared
of asbestos by Friday.
“Our expectations
is that work would be done by Friday,” he said.
“If it’s not done
the matter is set to go back before the court, where court orders and costs
will be sought by council.”
The Register
contacted council today in regard to the matter and was told that the buildings
were not demolished and so the issue had been listed for a hearing Friday.
