A new wine and food festival is coming to the Island in May: The Martha’s Vineyard Wine Festival brings winemakers, chefs and foodies together at a series of events in both public eateries and private homes, according to the festival website, which went live earlier this month:
- “Rosé Reception,” Atria Restaurant, May 9, 3-5 p.m.: $25 includes door prizes, light appetizers and Provence rosé from Chateau D’Esclans Whispering Angel.
- “Great Plains of Katama Dinner,” May 9, 7 p.m.:$100 for chef’s five-course dinner with wine pairings from Atria.
- “Man vs. Wild Food,” private home, May 9, 7 p.m.: $100 for Chef Billy Manson’s meal of foraged food sourced locally on Martha’s Vineyard, with wines from Longboard Vineyards.
- “Taste the Difference,” Vineyard Square Hotel and Suites, May 10, 2-3 p.m.: $60 to learn “how the right glass will enhance your wine drinking experience,” with Riedel Crystal and Miner Family Wines. Commemoratve glass included.
- “West Tisbury Private Home Wine Dinner,” May 10, 7 p.m.: $100 with five-course chef’s meal paired with MacMurray Ranch wines.
- “Soter Vineyards Winemaker Dinner,” L’etoile, May 10, time TBA: Book reservations with the restaurant, 508-627-5187.
- “King of Cabernet Wine Dinner,” Atria, May 10, 7 p.m.: $150 for chef’s five-course dinner paired with wines from Frog’s Leap Winery, Hewitt Vineyards, Louis M. Martini Winery, Palmaz and Trinchero. Book with Atria: 508-627-5850.
- “Oyster and Wine Cruise,” Edgartown Harbor, May 11, 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m.: $30 for an hour-long cruise with local Sweet Neck Farm oysters and SPanish wine from Martin Codax.
- “Grand Tasting,” Edgartown Rod and Gun Club, May 11, 3-6 p;m.: $75 taste food from local vendors and wine from among more than 200 wineries.
- “VIP Grand Tasting,” May 11, 2-6 p.m.: $100 for an exclusive hour before the doors open to regular ticketholders, plus a gift bag.
- “The Farmer’s Table,” May 11, 8 p.m. $150 for an “epic local Farm to Table dinner” with six local farmers, a chef and organic wines from Frog’s Leap.
- “Bottomless Mimosa and Endless Bloody Mary Brunch,” Detente Restaurant, May 12, 11 a.m.: $45 for a meal at which “La Marca Prosecco and Deep Eddy Vodka will never let your glasses be empty.”
According to the website, the new festival is founded by longtime Atria sommelier John Clift and fellow Atria employee Angela Vezzose. Melissa Norton Vincent is listed as events coordinator with Marnely Rodriguez-Murray and Nathan Briggs sharing public relations duties.
Clift is also associated with an upcoming seasonal liquor store recently approved for Nevin Square in Edgartown.
