OWENSBORO, Ky. (2/20/13) – Owensboro Dragon Boat Festival, Street Legends, and East Bridge Art Music Festival has each been named as Top 20 Events by the Southeast Tourism Society for August and September 2013. This award qualifies these events to be marketed in over 1600 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations, and AAA publications across 12 states in the southeast region of the U.S.

Owensboro Dragon Boat Festival is in its third year and had 21 teams competing for trophies and bragging rights in 2012. Thousands of spectators gathered in English Park to watch the brightly painted dragon boats race on the Ohio River. The date for the 2013 festival is August 24.

Street Legends, held in August at Diamond Lake Resort, has grown to include over 600 classic cars and trucks and brings between 7,000-10,000 people to wander among these restored vehicles. In 2013, the event will be held August 16-17.

East Bridge Art Music Festival grew in 2012 to include the Annual Bridge Day, a chance for people to walk across the Glover Cary “Blue” Bridge. Over 10,000 people came downtown to take a walk and participate in a day of live music, gourmet street food, live art displays, and to see the art of over 30 Kentucky Indiana artists. The date for 2013 is September 7.

The Owensboro Daviess County Convention Visitors Bureau submits events throughout the year for consideration to be listed as one of the society’s featured events.
