Wisconsin home sales were up 18.3 percent in January as median home prices also increased compared with the same month of 2012, according to the Wisconsin Realtors Association.

The statewide report follows a report of home sales increasing 15 percent in the Milwaukee area in January. Sales were up in every region of the state last month, with the strongest increases coming in northern and central Wisconsin. Following the trend in the Milwaukee area, the number of houses listed for sale is down statewide.

The median home price increased 3.4 percent, to $123,000 in Wisconsin compared with $119,000 in January 2012. However, in southeast Wisconsin, home prices were down 3.2 percent, to $120,000. In the southeast region, Milwaukee, Walworth and Kenosha counties tallied increases in prices, with Milwaukee County prices increasing 9.9 percent.
