PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) –
Portland Fire and Rescue responded to reports of two houses on fire in Southeast Portland this morning.
Crews found a detached garage fully engulfed in flames at Southeast 104th Ave and Mitchell Street.
Smoke was coming from two adjacent homes, and upon entering the homes found a majority of the damage was on the outside of the homes.
Battalion Chief Rich Stenhouse said, “With the potential for there to be up to three buildings involved our crews were going to be very busy with firefighting efforts. A neighbor across the street went well above and beyond by waking the occupants of one of the houses that was on fire.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Damage is estimated at $5,000 to each home, the garage was a total loss estimated at $5,000 and damage to a fence was listed at around $1,000.
