Boca honors top firefighters – Sun

Boca Raton Fire Chief Thomas R. Wood recently presented the Department’s “Excellence Award” to Firefighter/Paramedic Scott Hauss for his assistance as a member of the Florida team that helped in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Assistant Fire Chief David Woodside received an “Excellence Award” for his assistance in helping to get supplies to Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake that devastated that country.

Chief Woodside was also recognized for being named the “2012 Fire Marshal of the Year” for the state of Florida.

Boca Raton Fire Explorer Chief Nick Galiardo was given the department’s “Citizen Award” for administering first aid to a man found lying in the middle of a Boca Raton roadway prior to the arrival of rescue crews.
