There will be some big acts coming to Des Moines soon:

Miranda Lambert: Locked and Re-Loaded tour stops in Ames with Dierks Bentley and Lee Brice.

Jon Bon Jovi: The New Jersey rocker and his band will return to Des Moines on April 14 with the “Because We Can” Tour at the Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines. Ticket prices start at $19.50; tickets for the Iowa show went on sale Dec. 3 through dahlstickets.com.

Taylor Swift: Country star Taylor Swift returns to Wells Fargo Arena on Aug. 1. No word yet on ticket prices or an on-sale date. The event is listed on Swift’swebsite but is not listed on Ticketmaster or its partner website. In nearby Kansas City, MO tickets range from $30 to $85.

Justin Bieber: Pop star Justin Bieber will also make an appearance at the Wells Fargo Arena on July 7. Tickets are on sale now. Tickets range from $40 to $95.

Upcoming Ames/Metro Events:

Teams from all across Iowa will be in Ames Saturday to compete in Iowa Games’ Net Fest Volleyball Tournament. Teams comprised of sixth-graders and older will take over gyms at Beyer Hall, the Forker Building and Ames Middle School.

If Iowa Games Net Fest volleyball isn’t your thing you could find something to see at the Iowa State Center Sunday when the Iowa State University Gymnastics team takes on Wisconsin, LaCrosse.

The gymnastics meet begins at 2 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum and adult tickets are just $5.

Another $5 will get you into DG’s Tap House to see Animal Madness on Saturday.

Bands include Moonrabbit, Holly and the Night Owls, Madwheel Starfish and Strong Like Bear on Saturday. Tickets are $5 and doors open at 8 p.m.

While this is a slow weekend event wise, The M-Shop in the Memorial Union has lined up a handful of acts including some up and coming artists — like jazz guitarist Julian Lage on Jan. 17 and the Eastern Sea on Jan. 23. — and some people you might remember —like Sixpence None the Richer, whose 90s hits include There She Goes and Kiss Me.

Grammy Nominee Lage will make an appearance at 8 p.m. Jan. 17. Tickets are $12 at the door.

And on Jan. 18 Snowmine of Brooklyn will perform. A Cedar Rapids Iowa band, The Olympics will open. Tickets are $10 and the show begins at 9 p.m.

MTV buzzworthy blog‘s new indie crush, Eastern Sea of Austin, Texas will perform with the Kopecky Family Band of Nashville. The show begins at 8 p.m. Jan. 23 and tickets are $14 at the door.

Finally Sixpence None the Richer will stop in Ames near the end of the month. The show begins at 9 p.m. Jan. 25. Tickets are $19 at the door.
