Have your calendar at the ready, as you’ll want to make note of many of these holiday events and performances taking place in Pacifica. Events are listed in chronological order.
1. Madrigalli Market, Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1. The 6th annual Madrigalli Market features 15 local artists presenting their ceramics, jewelry, encaustic painting, felted accessories, clothing and Mexican Folk Art. Live music, wine tasting by A Grape in the Fog, and gourmet treats available. Proceeds benefit the Pedro Point Firehouse Playground. 1227 Danmann Ave.
2. Holiday Extravaganza! Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1. Listen to holiday carols on Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. Shop the Elf Market, Pacifica’s very own unique craft fair, on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Shop for holiday gifts handcrafted by local artists and community organizations. Make a gingerbread house and visit with Santa on Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Santa’s Workshop, co-sponsored by Oceana Market. For $5 at the door, kids get to make a gingerbread house from scratch and using real frosting. Also, kids can do a holiday craft and visit with Santa. 540 Crespi Drive.
3. Holiday Tree Lighting, Friday, Nov. 30. Join your friends and family to celebrate the annual lighting of the community holiday tree at 5:30 p.m. it’ll be an evening of fun, featuring the Cabrillo School 4th and 5th Grade Chorus, refreshments and a visit from Santa. This annual tradition has continued since the 1990s. 540 Crespi Drive.
4. Art Guild of Pacifica Galleria at Sanchez Art Center, Friday, Nov. 30-Dec. 2, Dec. 8-9, Dec. 15-16. Each year, Art Guild of Pacifica (AGP) rings in the holiday season with an open house art event at Sanchez Art Center. This year, AGP takes what is typically a veritable buffet of artistic delights to the next level. Galleria offers a wide variety of art options for those who seek unique and reasonably priced gift options. The grand opening is on Friday, November 30, from 7 to 9 p.m., includes refreshments and live music in both the East and West Galleries, and is free and open to all. 220 Linda Mar Boulevard.
5. Holiday Cookies Treats, Dec. 3 10. Holiday cookies and treats are on the menu in this baking class for kids. Young chefs ages 3.5 to 8 years will have fun creating delicious snacks for the holidays. $5 fee to instructor at first class. From 3:30-4:30 p.m. $26/$31. 6. Pacifica Historical Society Rummage Sale, Friday, Dec. 7. Gorgeous collection of holiday decorations opening at 9 a.m. Browse items such as lighted trees, wreaths, house decorations, as well as a huge collection of household items. This is a fundraiser by the Pacifica Historical Society to finish the restoration of a 100-year-old building known as the Little Brown Church into a museum and event center. 1850 Francisco Blvd.
7. 2nd Annual Rockaway Beach Tree Lighting Ceremony, Sunday, Dec. 9. Join in on this new Pacifica holiday tradition from 4 to 7 p.m. with tree lighting ceremony and caroling performed by the Seaside Singers and Tom Stafford the 4th Grade Cabrillo students. Free cable car rides from the Pacifica Community Center to Rockaway Beach and back. Santa’s arrival escorted by the Pacifica Fire Departments via their newly revamped antique fire truck at 4:30 p.m. Free photos, pony rides, ornament making at Resurrected and children’s craft making at Generations Children’s Clothing Accessories, and Santa letter writing @ Rock n Rob’s. Most merchants will be opened serving Santa treats and offering select Christmas specials. Novelty Holiday items available for purchase such as Santa hats, necklaces and glow sticks, the Nestlé’s, Nesquik Bunny passing out free goodies and Rockaway Beach Kiosk generously decorated by Oceana Market, in Eureka Square, showcasing their new toy department inside their grocery store. 8. The American Legion Post 238 Holiday Dinner, Tuesday, Dec. 25. The American Legion in Pacifica is sponsoring a holiday dinner for Veterans who don’t have any friends or family in the area. They are also looking for volunteers and donations to help with the event. The holiday dinner will take place on Christmas Day at 2 p.m. Space is limited, so reserve your spot today.
