PARIS—Crédit Agricole SA said Friday the sale of its troubled Greek banking arm and accounting charges pushed it to a record third-quarter loss.
France’s third-largest publicly-listed bank said Friday it booked a €1.96 billion ($2.49 billion) loss on the sale of Emporiki Bank of Greece, along with a €572 million write-down on its consumer finance unit because of a difficult Italian economy. Crédit Agricole also booked a €1.02 billion accounting charge stemming from a rule that requires banks to book a loss if the price of their debt rises.
