Stolen appliances listed online, police say; 2 charged

Two people have been charged with burglary, theft and possession of stolen property after police said items reported stolen from a northeast Indiana home under construction ended up on an online sales site.

A break-in was reported Oct. 16 in the 2500 block of Nature View Drive in Warsaw’s Harrison Ridge addition, according to a statement issued by the Warsaw Police Department. It said the owner-builder reported several new appliances were stolen.

Within a day, police said, appliances matching their descriptions were found listed for sale on Craigslist. One day later, the items were recovered at a home in the 3000 block of Deerfield Path in Warsaw, police said.

Justin Ray Teel, 24, owner of the Deerfield Path home, and Nathaniel V. Johnson, 26, of Pierceton, were arrested on the charges Thursday. Each was being held on a $12,000 cash bond.
