November has arrived, and with it the beginning of Wetumpka’s flurry of activities associated with the city’s largest annual event – Christmas on the Coosa.
The celebration officially began this past weekend with the annual Christmas on the Coosa pageants. The season’s events will continue through Dec. 15 and the Christmas on the Coosa ball. Many activities will be held on Christmas on the Coosa day, Dec. 8.
Following is the complete lineup. Contacts to obtain further information on any aspect of Christmas on the Coosa are listed at the end of this article, unless otherwise noted.
Shirts
The bright red 2012 shirts feature this year’s theme, “I’ll be Home for Christmas,” on the back along with artwork of a glowing tree. The front of the shirt includes a small representation of snowflakes above the city’s trademark bridge.
Long-sleeved T-shirts are available in adult S-XL ($12), 2X ($14) and 3X ($15). Sweatshirts are offered in adult S-XL ($13), 2X ($15) and 3X ($16).
Shirts are available at the city administrative building and Wetumpka Public Library. They will also be on sale Nov. 30 during the city’s tree lighting, nativity play and lights in motion event.
Arts and Crafts Vendors
Arts and crafts vendors will again be part of Christmas on the Coosa day, Dec. 8. The deadline for prospective vendors to submit their applications is Nov. 12, so time is quickly running out to reserve a space.
Cost for a 12×12 space is $50 without electricity and $60 with electricity. The fee is nonrefundable and spaces assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis when fee is paid.
Vendor booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for those exhibitors located in Gold Star Park. These booths must remain open until the end of the annual fireworks show.
