2012 Lake Country Veterans Day Events

The following events are taking place in Lake Country communities in honor of Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2012. If you have information for a city, town or village not listed, please send it to us and we’ll get it added. 

 

Hartland Library: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Help children understand Veterans Day with a special program at the library. A short movie will be shown explaining what it is and why we celebrate each year. 

 

Holy Trinity Lutheran: Wednesday, Nov. 7, The students and faculty invite all veterans and their families to a free breakfast and Veterans Day ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 7. The event begins with a breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. followed by viewing of the Wall of Honor and a ceremony at 10 a.m. in the gym. For information, call (262) 567-0669.

 

St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy, Delafield: 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9

Hamilton School District: Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, will be observed and veteran’s honored in each Hamilton District school.

Willow Springs: 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9
Lannon School: 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12
Maple Avenue School: Friday, Nov. 9
Woodside School: 9a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8
Templeton Middle School: 8:30 am. Friday, Nov. 9
Hamilton High School: Student Bryan Ritter will perform “Taps” at 11:11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9

Swallow School:  Sunday, 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. The fifth-grade class will present a Veteran’s Day program for parents and community members to attend. Anyone with a friend, famly member or neighbor who has served our country is invited to this special event. 

 

Flannagan-Dorn American Legion Post #294-Hartland: 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.

The post will honor all veterans at an 11 a.m. Veterans Day ceremony Sunday Nov. 11, at the post, 231 Goodwin Ave., Hartland. Veterans should assemble in front of the post at 10:45 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

 

Center for Life Enrichment, Oconomowoc: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.

The recently retired Chief of the Navy Reserve and Oconomowoc native, Dirk Debbink will be the guest speaker at a luncheon planned to honor all local veterans at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Center for Life Enrichment, 1306 W. Wisconsin Ave., Oconomowoc. Sponsored by Oliver Construction.

Oconomowoc-area veterans are invited to bring a guest to a free luncheon held as a salute to the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces ensuring the freedoms we cherish today.

Music during the program will be provided by guest vocalists David and Betty Reul.

The deadline for registration is Wednesday, Nov. 7.
