Running back Damien Williams and offensive lineman Lane Johnson returned to practice, coach Bob Stoops announced on Wednesday, but the players are listed as questionable for Saturday’s game at Iowa State.
The starters are nursing ankle injuries suffered in last week’s home loss to Notre Dame.
If Williams cannot play against the Cyclones, Dominique Whaley will start for the Sooners. Whaley, a 2011 starter, hasn’t played in the past two games and only has had seven total carries in the last four contests.
Stoops said he will update the players’ statuses on Thursday.
Williams is the team’s top rusher with 581 yards this season.
Johnson has started all seven games at left tackle this year. His backup is sophomore Tyrus Thompson.
