Telluride Mountain Film Festival

ZumbaThon

ZumbaThon, to benefit Caring Sharing of South Walton County, will be held from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 3 at Butler Elementary School in Santa Rosa Beach. The suggested entrance donation is $10. Community Clean Up

District 4 Commissioner Sara Comander will sponsor Community Clean Up Day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Choctaw Beach Park on State Road 20 in the Choctaw Beach community. Dumpsters provided for Walton County residents to dump trash, yard debris, tires, appliances, and other miscellaneous items. A crew and equipment to off-load heavy items will be available. Recycling trailers will also be available for newsprint, glass, and aluminum. Do not bring poisons, pesticides, paints, thinners, gasoline, and other flammables.

Biophilia Center

Grit Grace

Identifying the invader

The Walton County Master Gardeners present the ninth lecture in a series for local gardeners from 10-11:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at the UofFL/Walton Coastal Branch Extension Office, 70 Logan Lane in Grayton Beach. Sheila Dunning, a University of FL/Okaloosa County Extension Horticulture Agent, will educate attendees about invasive species from both the animal and plant kingdoms in our area.

Emerald Coast Golf Classic

The Second Annual Emerald Coast Golf Classic to benefit Emerald Coast Middle School will be held at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 9 at Raven Golf Club at Sandestin. Toy Drive

Cheeseburger in Paradise will host a Toy Drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 in the parking lot of the business at Silver Sands Premium Outlets to help local foster children.

Coastal Holiday Market

The second annual Coastal Holiday Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at St. Rita Church, 173 Moll Drive in Santa Rosa Beach. There will be more than 30 artisans and crafters, homemade cinnamon rolls and Boy Scouts to serve lunch.

Flutterby Festival

One of South Walton’s premier events celebrating the migration of the Monarch Butterfly, Flutterby Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 and 11 at Rosemary Beach’s South Barrett Square, Main Street and Western Green. The event provides live music, interactive storytelling, animal encounters and an array of artists, vendors and exhibitors. A master gardener will be on hand teaching children the art of building a butterfly garden. Pajama Time Story Time

A World Affair

A World Affair will be held from 1-4 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort’s Linkside Exhibition Hall and will celebrate food, dance and culture from around the world. Several Emerald Coast restaurants will serve a selection of international foods, and area performing arts groups will demonstrate cultural dances. An international fashion show will showcase traditional clothing from a variety of countries, and a silent auction will be held.

All proceeds benefit Covenant Hospice’s unfunded programs in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Covenant Hospice needs restaurants to participate and items for the silent auction. Corporate sponsorships are available and range from $100 to $2,500. Call 598-4815.

Sounds of the Season

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation will present their annual Christmas concert, Sounds of the Season, at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Village Baptist Church in Destin.

Admission is a donation of an unwrapped child’s toy to be distributed among the participating church’s outreach ministries.
