The “sophisticated” foodie scene of Clinton Street is in a transition period for sure. We’ve seen three separate establishments fold north of Delancey within the last six months. There was 1492, Ed’s Lobster Bar, and Francesca by the Franks. All in quick succession. Now it appears another is on the proverbial ropes.
Just shy of four years after first arriving at 71 Clinton, brick oven newcomer San Marzano Pizza looks to be for sale. Judging by the photos included in this Craigslist ad posted last Friday, the alleged “million dollar business” carries a price tag of $465,000 in key money, plus another $12,500 per month in rent. We have yet to receive confirmation of the validity of said listing, but it seems pretty transparent.
This brick oven pizzeria at the corner of Rivington is actually the second outpost of the San Marzano brand. The OG outpost slings slices in the town of Merrick on Long Island.
