The two local properties are included in a total of four state properties that will now be up for sale through the recent approval of the 2012 Real Property Disposition Plan.
As a result of the approval, the department’s Bureau of Real Estate will now move forward with appraisals, land surveys, environmental reports and prep activities to bring the properties to market. Under normal circumstances, the properties should begin to go out for public bid in the spring of 2013.
“We are excited to move forward with our plan to generate revenue for the commonwealth by removing these four properties from the state inventory and getting them onto local tax rolls where they can help revitalize our economy,” General Services Secretary Sheri Phillips said. “We thank the General Assembly for realizing the benefits of selling these properties and supporting our efforts to do so.”
The two remaining properties approved for sale under the plan are Fort LeBoeuf Museum in the Borough of Waterford, Erie County; and a parcel on the DGS Annex (formerly Harrisburg State Hospital) in Susquehanna Township and Harrisburg.
The State Hospital’s estimated value is $1.2 million. Weaversville’s estimated value is $900,000.
