Whether you want to be scared or entertained, or are just in it for the candy, groups in the San Jacinto Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass area have Halloween activities planned. Here is a sampling:

BANNING

Halloween Fest, 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, Banning Community Center, 789 N. San Gorgonio Ave. There will be crafts, a jump house, face-painting, food, a scavenger hunt, pumpkin carving and a zombie walk. Information: 951-922-3242

BEAUMONT

Monster Mash Halloween Party, hosted by Beaumont, 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Albert A. Chatigny Sr. Community Recreation Center, 1310 Oak Valley Parkway. The Monster Mash will include games, candy, food, a maze and a Halloween costume contest at 6:30 p.m. This free event is designed for the whole family. Information: 951-769-8524

Trunk or Treat, sponsored by Beaumont and Church for Family, 5-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Beaumont Sports Park, Brookside and Beaumont avenues. Instead of collecting candy from the neighborhood, children collect candy from the trunks of vehicles parked safely in a parking lot. Free admission. Information: 951-769-8524

Fall Festival, 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Calvary Chapel Beaumont, 1780 Orchard Heights. The inaugural festival will feature games, crafts, goodies and fun for all ages. Watch a skit, listen to storytellers and play games that highlight the miracles of Jesus. Information: 951-769-7610

HEMET

Haunted house, sponsored by Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District; 6-9 p.m. Oct. 25-27 and Oct. 29-30, at 43935 Acacia Ave. A costume contest for kids followed by a family pumpkin-decorating contest will begin at 4 p.m. Oct. 27. Admission is $5 a person, $4 with a donated canned food item, or $18 for a family of five by donating five canned food items. There will be a LifeStream blood drive from 4-9 p.m. Oct. 29-30. Harvest Hoedown, sponsored by the Salvation Army, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 340 S. Palm Ave. The Harvest Hoedown is an alternative to trick-or-treating, giving children a safe and fun place to celebrate the harvest season. There will be candy, toys, carnival games, karaoke and other activities for adults and children. Information: 951-791-9497.

IDYLLWILD

Idyllwild Ghost Town, sponsored by Idyllwild School’s Parent Teacher Association, 7-10 p.m. Oct. 19, 20, 26, 27 and 31; 26200 Highway 243. Tickets are $5 for children 13 and younger or $7 for adults. Information: 951-659-3228

SAN JACINTO

Candy Corner, sponsored by the San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce, 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 2525 S. San Jacinto Ave., Farmers Corner. Nonprofits and businesses host information booths where children pick up candy in a safe and fun alternative to going door to door.
