It was the idyllic farm home where, in the words of its fictional TV owner Pop Larkin, everything was ‘perfick’

And now the dream of an escape to the country could become a reality for anyone with £1.35million to spend.

Buss Farm, in Bethersden, Kent, comes with 8 hectares (20 acres) of land, a Kentish Oast house, square kiln oast and a Tudor barn. It was used as the setting for the ITV series, screened in the early 1990s and based on the novels by H E Bates.

The farmhouse, complete with a woodburning stove, is on the market for the first time in 40 years.

The show was set in 1950s rural Kent and starred David Jason, Catherine Zeta Jones and Pam Ferris. It launched the career of Zeta-Jones, who played daughter Mariette.
