Baristaville Open Houses: Sunday, Sept. 23

There’s a lot of interesting real estate in Baristaville, but not all of it comes at a cost. This weekend, 64 of the 115 properties showing are priced at $500,000 and under. For the most part, living space and new kitchens are within the budget, but what’s with the lack of garages?

227 Orange Rd., Montclair
List Price: $449,000
Taxes: $15,404
Acreage: 0.16
6BR/2.2BA

Built in approximately 1915, this recently-listed nine-room Colonial has an updated (but not spectacular) kitchen, hardwood floors, a fireplace in the living room, built-ins and a new furnace. Outdoor living is another plus: there is a front porch, patio and fenced-in backyard. The big selling point is the number of bedrooms, a rariety at this price point. There are six bedrooms in total, four on the second floor and two on the third. Finally, there is a partially-finished, full, walkout basement but no garage. Open 2 to 4 p.m.

19 Berkley St., Maplewood
List Price: $287,500
Taxes: $6,649
Acreage: 0.08
3BR/1.1BA

Also relatively new on the market, this seven-room Colonial was renovated this year to include a new kitchen and bathrooms. The house was just painted, and many fixtures are new as well. The circa 1930 house also has an enclosed porch, deck and unfinished basement. There is no garage. Open 2 to 5 p.m.

261A Elmwood, Maplewood is also worth a look. The five-bedroom Townhouse, just listed at $149,000, has two bedrooms, one (updated) bathroom, a new kitchen, attic storage and a detached one-car garage. Taxes are $5,858; the association fee is $500. Pets are allowed. Open 1 to 4 p.m.

108 Roland Ave., South Orange
List Price: $349,000
Taxes: $8,848
Acreage: 0.13
3BR/1BA

This seven-room Dutch Colonial, a new listing, has many improvements — all done this year. Highlights include a new kitchen with country-esque built-ins, refurbished hardwood floors on the first level and new carpeting upstairs. A wood burning fireplace in the living room and a front porch are among the other attributes. The attic could be finished; the basement is also unfinished. The house was built in approximately 1928. There is no garage. Open 1 to 4 p.m.

Just reduced: 12 Pieretti Ct., Bloomfield, a nine-room Colonial with four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms pictured at left, is now listed for $474,500 — a $10,000 drop. The circa 1993 house is the largest on its cul-de-sac. The house has many amenities. One of the most unusual is the location of the laundry room; it’s in the master bathroom. Taxes are $16,557. Open 2 to 4 p.m. … 26 Harvard Terr., West Orange was just reduced by $14,000 to $365,000. Taxes are $11,302. Open 2 to 4 p.m.
