Bayer has achieved optimal ratings in new Carbon Leadership rankings compiled by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
The firm was one of 33 organisations included in the CDP’s Carbon Performance Leadership Index, receiving the top rating of A thanks to its efforts to reduce carbon emissions and create more resource-friendly products.
It was also ranked as the best company in its sector by the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index, earning a maximum score of 100 as it claimed a place in the index for the eighth successive year.
By making these commitments to sustainability, Bayer is also creating cost savings and revenue-generating opportunities for itself.
Professor Wolfgang Plischke, Bayer’s board member responsible for innovation, technology and sustainability, said: “The fact that CDP has once again awarded us top ratings in both important climate indices is proof of the success of our efforts and strategy in the area of climate issues.”
The company also announced this week that it has retained its position in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index.
