LETTER: Events need more attention

For a small local club, our club is known nationally. The club’s newsletter, edited by Arno Safran, has won awards as a local newsletter six times since the club’s organization in 2001. Safran received a third place award for the 2011 newsletter at the American Numismatic Association’s “World Fair of Money” convention held in Philadelphia in August. Since the first and second place went to Canadian clubs, we consider our club to be first in the U.S. for a local club’s newsletter. Six members from the club attended the convention.

The coin club is chartered as a non-profit educational organization. The public is always invited to attend our meetings. Meeting programs include numismatics/local and worldwide history. Normally, each month’s program is listed in the calendar. The meetings are held at the Aiken County Library.

Some of the profits from the show are donated to the Aiken County Library to purchase numismatic books which are available for use to the general public.
