Veteran character Bruce McGill, perhaps best known for his turn as the motorcycle rider Daniel Simpson “D-Day” Day in the 1978 comedy classic National Lampoon’s Animal House, has listed his Ojai residence for sale at $1.675 million.

McGill and his wife, Gloria Lee-McGill, have owned the five-bedroom residence on Alto Court for about a decade. The 4,013-square-foot house was listed for sale Aug. 6.

The gated Spanish Colonial Revival residence, built in 1987, is situated on a little more than two acres; the property includes a tennis court, sand volleyball court and putting green — all additions made by McGill and his wife.

“The put a lot of care into renovating it,” said real estate agent Carla Patterson of the John Aaroe Group, who has the listing. “It has gorgeous views and it’s very peaceful. And it’s five minutes from the Ojai Valley Inn.”

The house includes a screening room, music room and a renovated kitchen that includes stainless steel appliances and a walk-in pantry. It is located in Ojai’s Saddle Mountain Estates neighborhood and is zoned to accommodate six heads of livestock (the area is a popular equestrian community).

McGill has numerous film and television credits to his name. In addition to his role in Animal House, he is also well known for playing Jack Dalton on the ABC television series MacGyver and appearing in HBO telefilms 61* and Recount, among others. He currently appears on TNT’s Rizzoli Isles.

His film credits include W, The Insider, Ali, Collateral and Timecop. McGill will next appear as Edwin Stanton in Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln, which is slated to be released in November.
