Salem Back-to-School Events, Dates

Next week, Salem public school students will get back to hitting the books following a long, hot summer. The first day of school for all local students will be Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Leading up to that day, each school has events for students, parents and teachers as they all prepare for the new year.

SALEM HIGH SCHOOL

Tuesday, Aug. 28: Freshman orientation, 7:30 a.m., Seifert Auditorium

Wednesday, Aug. 29: First Day of School, 7:30 a.m.

Friday, Aug. 31: Jostens Ring Assembly, 7:20 to 7:40 a.m.; School Picture Day, 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Davis Gym

WOODBURY MIDDLE SCHOOL

Tuesday, Aug. 28: Grade 6 Transition Day, 7:25 a.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 29: First Day of School, 7:25 a.m.

Friday, Aug. 31: Connections retreat for 7th grade students and parents, Northern Essex Community College, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

BARRON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Wednesday, Aug. 22: Classroom Lists Posted, 3 p.m.; PTA Back-to-School Hair Cut-a-Thon, 3 to 6 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 27: PTA Welcome Back Ice Cream Social, 5:30 p.m.
