AMBITIOUS plans to build five houses and eight apartments in Windsor town centre have been delayed as councillors seek reassurances regarding parking.

The Royal London Property Fund owns the empty offices at the Grade II Listed building at 32 Peascod Street, and proposes to demolish the 20th century extension at the back of the property, while keeping the original Victorian frontage.

In doing so, 26 spaces associated with the offices will be lost and only six will be provided by the development.

Speaking at the planning panel’s meeting on Wednesday night, councillor Phill Bicknell said: “I have said on lots of occasions that if there was underground parking with stuff in the town centre then this work would be okay.”

The panel agreed they would visit the site before reconsidering the application.
