LUCKNOW: The haj pilgrims of Uttar Pradesh, who were in the waiting list from serial number 5,544 to 8,553 (3,009 pilgrims in all) have been selected for this year’s haj pilgrimage. Similarly, selection of haj pilgrims in the waiting list from serial number 8554 to 9106 is almost certain, says a release issued by secretary, UP State Haj Committee Abrar Ahmad. He said that as per the guidelines of the Haj Committee of India, it is obligatory for these selected haj pilgrims to use the pay-in-slip of green colour by downloading it from website www.uphajcommittee.com or www.hajcommittee.com or detaching it from the Haj Guide Book. The selected haj pilgrims are required fill their bank reference and cover number in it prior to depositing Rs 51,000 and the remaining amount as per Azizia category in any branch of the State Bank of India.

He said that after depositing the money in the bank, the haj pilgrims will have to deposit their passport having a colour photograph of the pilgrim behind a white background, stapled on the right side of the cover along with the bank’s pay-in-slip in the office of the UP State Haj Committee, 10-A, Vidhan Sabha Marg, Lucknow either by hand or by registered post on or before August 25.

Ahmad said that the wait-listed pilgrims from serial number 8,554 to 9,106 will be selected against the cancelled seats in serial order or against the additional quota to be released in future. “These pilgrims will also have to deposit their passport in the same way as mentioned above with an undertaking, the proforma of which can be downloaded from www.uphajcommittee.com. In the office of the state haj committee by hand or by post latest by August 25”, he said. On being selected, these pilgrims will be asked on a very short notice to deposit the required money in the bank and deliver the bank pay-in-slip in the office of the state haj committee, he added.

The selected pilgrims, he said, are being informed via SMS and confirmation letters are being dispatched to them. The list has also been uploaded on the committee’s website. They will be required to deposit the money only as per Azizia category under the account head ‘FEE TYPE-25’ in any branch of SBI latest by August 25. The required amount to be deposited by every haj pilgrim will be Rs 51,000+Rs 82,200 (Total Rs 1,33,200) from Lucknow embarkation point, Rs 51,000 + Rs 82,950 (Total Rs 1,33,950) from Varanasi embarkation point and Rs 51,000+Rs 85,250 (total Rs 1,36,250) from Delhi embarkation point.
