The success of the annual Scone Cup festival has resulted in three races being recommended for Listed status.

For the past two years the Hunter Valley club has conducted the second day of its meeting in May as the main Saturday meeting in NSW.

The Pattern Committee has recommended to the Australian Racing Board that two fillies races over 1100m, one for two-year-olds and the other for three-year-olds, be upgraded to Listed level along with the 1300m open sprint.

If the recommendations are accepted, Scone will have six Listed events over the two days.

The others are the Scone Cup, the Dark Jewel and the Scone Quality.

Another seven races, all in Melbourne during the spring, have been recommended for upgrades including the 3200m Sandown Cup.
