Londontowne ‘Awareness’ Events Kick Off Week-Long Festival

The Londontowne Property Owners’ Association 33rd Annual Awareness Week kicks off Saturday and continues to next Sunday, featuring a wealth of activities, festivals and community events.

Starting as early as 7 a.m. on Saturday, the community is invited to partake in a variety of events, ranging from fishing to festivals to volleyball. The Awareness Week culminates with an all-you-can-eat crab feast at The Clubhouse on Mayo Road.

Listed below is a breakdown of the activities by day, and who to contact.

Saturday

  • 7 a.m.—Fishing and Crabbing Contest, ending on Aug. 19. Sign up by contacting Marty’s or call 410-956-2238.
  • 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.—Annual Community Flea Market at the Community Hall Grounds. Space available for $20 each, indoor spaces for $25. Reservations can be made at 410-956-4808.
  • 2:30-4 p.m.—Children’s Birthday Party (up to age 7). Entertainment, games and prizes. Face painting and cupcake donations are needed. To get involved, call 410-956-4808.

Sunday

  • 1 p.m.—Pet Show. Trophies and prizes will be available. Bring your pet and all kinds of pets are welcome.

Monday

  • 6:30 p.m.—Family Festival until 8:30 p.m. Food, games, prizes, demonstrations, information and much more. Contact 410-956-4808.
  • Deadline for the 4th Annual London Towne Photography Contest is due on Monday. Contact Pam at 410-956-7679.

Thursday

  • 6:30 p.m.—Amelia Mott Volleyball Tournament. The event will take place at The Five Beaches and will compete for the trophy. Bring your really tall friends. To compete, contact the chairman at 410-798-4260.
  • Community Pot Luck Dinner to take place after volleyball. Bring your favorite dish, we’ll supply the drinks and beer. Contact Tom at 410-798-4260.
  • 6 p.m.—Photo Contest Judging. Residents vote for the photo contest.

Saturday

  • 9 a.m.—Children’s Bike Contest and Mini Parade begins at Beach Five, ends at Beach 3 where refreshments will be served.
  • 10 a.m.—Canoe and Kayak Race and Ramblin’ Raft Race at Beach 3. All rafts must be home-made without inflatable items or motors.
  • 10 a.m.—Sand Sculpture Contest at Beach 3.

Sunday

  • 12 p.m.—Fishing Contest Ends.
  • 1-4 p.m.—Crab Feast, 50/50 Raffle, Games of chance, cake wheel, photo contest winers announced. Buy tickets from your beach representative or call 410-956-4808 for reservations. CASH payments only.
  • Adults (14 and over) in advance $35 at the door $45
  • Youth (7-13) in advance $15 at the door $25
  • Children 6 and under are free
