Wilson, NY — A 14-year-old girl is dead and four other people are hurt after a house exploded in Niagara County on Tuesday morning. It happened just after 6:00 am on Chestnut Road near Beebe Road in Wilson.

Officials have identified the girl as Sarah Johnson. Four of her family members, including her mother, father and two other siblings are being treated for extensive burns and lacerations at Erie County Medical Center. Officials at the scene tell Eyewitness News, those family members were blown out of the house at the time of the explosion. They all have serious injuries.

Sarah’s parents, Jody and Judith Johnson are both in stable condition. Her sister, 18-year-old Katie is listed in critical condition with severe burns. 16-year-old Nathan was taken to Mount Saint Mary’s hospital, then later transported to ECMC. He is listed in stable condition.

Two other children who live in the house slept over their friends’ houses and were not inside the home at the time. There is no word on what caused the explosion.

A vigil for the Johnson family will be held tonight at Wilson High School at 7:30 pm.
