St. Louis Craft Beer Week taps more than 60 events

The fourth annual St. Louis Craft Beer Week has more than 60 beer tastings, dinners, festivals, demos, trivia nights and other events lined up over nine days.

Take a look at everything happening Saturday through Aug. 5, and plan accordingly. To help you sort through the best of the best, Hip Hops has compiled highlights below by various categories.

BEER ‘DINNERS’

Beer-and-food pairings are the focus of these St. Louis Craft Beer Week events.

• Cervezas con Huevos: 10:30 a.m. July 29, $35. Four-course beer brunch with five brews, including a beermosa. Milagro Modern Mexican, 314-962-4300.

• Charleville: 6:30 p.m. July 30, $50. Four-course dinner paired with Charleville beers, including the new Duck Sauce, a wine-beer hybrid. The Shaved Duck, 314-776-1407. 

• Sharing and Pairing: 6 p.m. July 31, $20. The restaurant will provide a four-course meal; you provide the beer. Bigelo’s Bistro, 618-655-1471.

• Goose Island: 7 p.m. July 31, $65. Five-course meal paired with Goose Island brews; a Goose Island brewer will be in attendance. Prime 1000, 314-241-1000.

• Pizza and Beer Demo: 6-9 p.m. Aug. 2, $45. Pi Pizzeria executive chef Steven Caravelli will teach participants how to make a number of his winning pizzas, which I’ll pair with local craft beers. Everyone in attendance will receive a copy of the Post-Dispatch book “Brew in the Lou: St. Louis’ Beer Culture — Past, Present Future.” Schnucks Cooking School, 314-909-1704.

• 4 Hands: 6:30 p.m. Aug. 2, $35. Four-course dinner paired with 4 Hands brews. Llywelyn’s Pub in Webster Groves, 314-962-1515.

• Widmer Bros.: 7 p.m. Aug. 2, $40. Brewer Jacob Leonard picks four Widmer Bros. beers to pair with four dishes. Boogaloo, 314-645-4803.

• Wine vs. Beer: 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 3, $25. Four wines, four beers and four small plates of food. Which beverage will prove to be the better pairing partner? You be the judge. The Wine and Cheese Place in Clayton, 314-727-8788. 

• Chef’s Choice: All week, prices vary. Chefs at Duff’s, Twin Oak, Five and Wildflower have come up with special beer-and-food pairings, which they’ll offer in addition to their regular menus during St. Louis Craft Beer Week.

• Firkin Fest: Noon-close Aug. 4, beers available for purchase. Taste from an impressive lineup of cask-conditioned beers, with two being tapped every hour, starting at noon. International Tap House, Soulard.

• Schurcipefones Festival: Noon-6 p.m. Aug. 5, $25. St. Louis breweries will pour special releases for this Beer Week closing party. Live music, activities for kids and food will be available. Bridge Tap House and Wine Bar.
