Wisconsin home sales up almost 21% through first half of 2012

The number of houses listed for sale in Wisconsin in 2012 is 3.6 percent lower than in the first six months of 2011.

Wisconsin home sales were up 19.3 percent last month compared with June 2011, and sale prices increased for the fourth consecutive month, according to the Wisconsin Realtors Association.

Last month’s 6,807 sales put Wisconsin 20.6 percent ahead of last year’s sales numbers through June. Sales were up 19.2 percent in southeast Wisconsin, with every county posting increases except Kenosha County, where sales fell 9.4 percent.

The statewide median sales price increased to $142,000 in June, 1.4 percent higher than the same month of 2011. That increase puts the state on par with 2011’s sales prices through the first half of the year.
