The former Ambleside police station sold for £141,000
The former police station in Ambleside, Cumbria, has been sold at auction in Manchester for £141,000.
It was listed for sale alongside police buildings in Cockermouth, Cleator Moor and Kirkby Stephen. These failed to sell.
The properties were being offered for sale by the Cumbria Police Authority.
Ray Cole, chairman of the authority, said: “We are pleased that Ambleside was auctioned but are disappointed that the other buildings were not sold.”
He added: “We will now reconsider our options for the sale of the three former police stations.”
The stations were put up for sale because of budget cuts. Cumbria Police Authority needs to trim £20m from its budget by 2016.
The authority had been hoping to raise up to £700,000 at the sale.
