Real Housewives, Really Ugly Houses? – The Star-Ledger

Melissa Gorga’s home, at 8 Pond View in Montville, is among those listed on Complex.com’s “10 Ugliest McMansions in New Jersey.”

Complex.com’s list of the “10 Ugliest McMansions in New Jersey” isn’t particularly kind to the Garden State. It’s even harsher on Morris County, where four homes made the list — three in Montville Township.

And it’s particularly cruel to Montville’s two Real Housewives of New Jersey stars — Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga. The sometimes-friends, sometimes-rivals saw their township homes clock in at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.

Complex says Gorga’s 13,500 square foot home — which the site values at $3,800,000 — would make architect Again Mansart “cringe at the integration of his style into this house.”

“The hints of scrollwork in the windows
and on the chimney give the design of this house almost a fantastical
feel, but I doubt there will be a happy ending to this architectural
fairytale,” the site writes.

Giudice’s 12,000 square foot home, at a cool $4 million, doesn’t fare much better.

“I don’t see much difference between
how Walmart decorates its square stores with its logo and this box
decorated with ‘sophisticated,’ ‘French’ finishings,” Complex writes.

They say no publicity is bad publicity, but it’s not clear Gorga and her husband, Joe, would welcome the distinction as they try to sell their Montville home. Joe Gorga, who custom-built the house, told US Weekly in May the couple wants to move back to Franklin Lakes.

“I absolutely love our current house and will be sad to leave, but Joe
is an incredible builder, so I have no doubt that I’ll love the next
house just as much,” Melissa Gorga told the magazine. “Although this is the last time he is getting me to pack up!”
