If you were unimpressed with Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic, and the reveal of Star Wars 1313 didn’t inspire you to dig out your blaster, white shirt and black vest, then how about the sighting of classic BioWare RPG, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic?
Seen on a GameStop internal listing and then on Amazon’s actual site, with a launch of July 17 according, it would appear as though Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is due to be re-released on the PC as a double pack compilation.
Although no official comment from LucasArts has, at the time of writing, been issued, the sudden reissue of this fan favourite might be a very good sign that the series could be on its way back for a new instalment. Then again, it could simply be a way to milk the much loved series for some more cash.
Listed only for the PC, it doesn’t appear as though there are any plans to re-master the games for current or next-gen consoles, but with the game listed for a mere £19.99 for the set, it’s an RPG classic that gamers who missed out the first time around should certainly grab it when it’s released.
Although the second game, actually developed by Obsidian Entertainment, was met with less impressive criticism than the pure-bred BioWare original, being, in true Obsidian fashion, a little under-polished, both were great games, and some of the best Star Wars gaming around. If this re-release does point to something new on the horizon for Knights of the Old Republic, there’s plenty of reason to be cheerful.
