Portsmouth

  • annual fireworks display: is Tuesday, July 3, at the South Mill Pond, located across from Portsmouth City Hall. The fireworks display begins at 9:15 p.m. The rain date is Thursday, July 5.
  • Strawbery Banke Museum: rings with an event and fun-filled family commemoration of the nation’s 236th birthday on Wednesday, July 4. The 11th annual An American Celebration! event at the Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A real old-fashioned fabulous 4th of July. Complete with children’s bike and wagon parade (2:30 p.m., decorate 10 a.m.-2 p.m.), visit by Abraham Lincoln, traditional games and crafts, historic garden tours, live music by Bedford Big Band, living history, hands-on activities, food and fun for all. Admission to An American Celebration is free to children under 17 and to all active duty military and their families. Museum members charged according to membership level. Adult tickets are $15 and available in advance at www.strawberybanke.org or by calling 433-1107.

Brentwood

4th of July Parade: Line up at Swasey School at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 4. Step-off at 10 a.m. sharp. Questions? Call 642-6400 Ext. 14. The finale of what has become a traditional, old-fashioned family night of celebration, fireworks begin at 9 p.m. in the fields beyond the County Home.

Dover

The 26th annual Cochecho Arts Festival: is slated to kick-off July 4 with an all day celebration in Henry Law Park that will include the Liberty Mutual Fireworks Display set to begin at 9:15 p.m. Dover’s 4th of July Celebration will include two stages with entertainment, sponsored by Federal Savings Bank, starting at 2 p.m. For all Cochecho Arts Festival information, performance lineup and sponsor information visit www.CochechoArtsFestival.org or the Festival’s Facebook page. In the event of rain, both webpages will be updated with the latest information on cancellations and venue changes. Exeter

American Independence Festival: Saturday, July 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Independence Museum, Exeter. On July 16, 1776, the Dunlap Broadside of the Declaration of Independence arrived in Exeter from Philadelphia. Now 236 years later, the museum celebrates this momentous occasion and America’s freedom. Join the crowd escorting President Washington down Water Street, see the horseback delivery of the Declaration, listen to a public reading (complete with hecklers!), chat with historic role-players, step to the stirring music of the Lincoln Minutemen Fife and Drum and delight in the maneuvers and cannon firings of the militias. Visit the traditional New Hampshire Artisans’ Village, view the original Dunlap Broadside and early drafts of the U.S. Constitution. Enjoy plenty of food, music, sidewalk sales and children’s activities, then stay for the town’s evening fireworks and live band. Event is held rain or shine. Admission is $7 for events on museum grounds and daytime Swasey Parkway events. Museum Members and under age 10 admitted free.

Hampton

Fireworks Special Shoot: On the Beach across from C Street on Wednesday, July 4, at 9:30 p.m. Free.

York, Maine

Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration: will be held at Ellis Park at Short Sands Beach in York, Maine, at 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 4. Rain date is July 5, at 9:30 p.m.
