Yes, you, too, can party like one of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” Or, at least like one of them used to party.
Melissa and Joe Gorga’s Jersey Shore House is now on the market for $520,000, down $15,000 from when it was first listed on Feb. 17. Listing agent Joseph Cassese confirmed Thursday that the three-bedroom, two-bath waterfront home at 11 Mermaid Road in Toms River is the very same place that we saw in last week’s “RHONJ” episode, in which the Gorgas had a pool party. According to the listing, the property includes a “spectacular backyard plus in-ground salt water pool, outside kitchen outside fireplace.”
Also apparently for sale, at $3.8 million, is the Gorgas’ sprawling six bedroom, 7 ½ bathroom home on 2.24 acres in Montville, the dream house that Joe supposedly built (in 2009) for Melissa. There’s also a video tour of the house on YouTube.
According to the RE/MAX Mortgage calculator, if you paid full price for the Montville house, took a 30-year mortgage at 4.5 percent and put down $760,000, your monthly cost would be $15,403. Property taxes are $52,507 a year.
Rumors had swirled for months that the Gorgas could not afford the Montville house, which was reportedly a construction model, built with a construction loan with a balloon payment that was about to come due. The couple had briefly listed this home in 2010 for $4.1 million, but then took it off the market, according to Trulia.com.
On Thursday, Britain’s The Daily Mail reported that the Gorgas have “already sold their $3.8 million mansion due to spiraling debt damage from ever daunting mortgage payments.” But the listing is still up, and the contact person listed, Jerome Sahlman of RE/MAX Village Square in Upper Montclair, did not return a phone call about the status of the listing.
In May, the Gorgas discussed the sale of their Montville home with US Weekly.
“I’m a builder. I custom-built the houses we have lived in and will do the same with our next one,” Joe told the magazine. “We tried Montville, but it just wasn’t for us. We want to go back to Franklin Lakes, which is closer to where I work, and we’re looking at a couple of properties now.”
Melissa told US: “I absolutely love our current house and will be sad to leave, but Joe is an incredible builder, so I have no doubt that I’ll love the next house just as much. Although this is the last time he is getting me to pack-up!”
