Numerous Francis Marion baseball players were listed in the final 2012 NCAA Division II baseball statistical report, while the Patriots ranked highly in several team categories.
In the team rankings, the Patriots ranked among the Top 20 in three statistical categories: fifth in total hits (658), ninth in fewest walks allowed per nine innings (2.68), and 13th in sacrifice bunts (59). Francis Marion also ranked 25th in earned run average (3.42), 28th in runs scored (385), 33rd in doubles (103), 37th in batting average (.314), 48th in strikeouts per nine innings (7.3), and 50th in scoring (6.6 runs per game). With its 40-18 record, FMU ranked 25th in win-loss percentage (0.690).
Junior right-handed pitcher Spencer Jordan (ranked 12th nationally in wins (10), 22nd in total strikeouts (95), and 95th in strikeouts per nine innings (8.61). Senior southpaw Matt Broderick ranked 21st in fewest walks issued per nine innings (1.29) and 61st in victories with eight, while sophomore righty Jeffrey Stoner ranked 27th with nine saves, despite only moving into the closer role late in the season. Stoner was also listed 38th in total strikeouts (88) and 45th in strikeouts per nine innings (9.43).
Senior righty Jarrott Hooks ranked 55th in fewest walks allowed per nine innings (1.59).
At the plate, senior center fielder Buddy Sosnoskie ranked second in both total hits (92) and doubles (25), 10th in doubles per game (0.43), 29th in both runs batted in (56) and total bases (129), 54th in batting average (.391), 63rd in sacrifice flies (5), 69th in toughest to strike out (once every 13.8 at bats), 74th in runs scored (51), and 82nd in RBIs per game (0.97).
Senior second baseman Brock McCallister ranked 12th in total hits (83) and 61st in sacrifice bunts (10). Sophomore infielder Michael Wilson ranked 69th in hits (74) and 74th in runs (51), while senior outfielder Tyler Boyd ranked 61st in sacrifice bunts (10) and 88th in sacrifice bunts per game (0.20) and junior infielder Stephen Tarkenton was listed as 27th in sacrifice flies (6).
