Summer 2012 events might spark interest

Every now and then, emails will come across my desk asking me to promote events. During the summer, though, the flow of reminders is endless. At this point, I know it is time to group items together and share with readers. Please understand that I do so to promote engagement and do not support or endorse any specific group or activity. Also, many of the events repeat throughout the year even though they are listed by month below.

First a few noteworthy events from disAbility Resource Center:

1. Learn Earn Financial Strategies class will be June 19th from 4-6 at dRC. (Located at 140 Cinema Dr. Suite C)  This month’s topic is “Day to Day Savings- strategies to stretch your monthly income.” The instructor will once again be Chantelle Marvin of Fiscally Fit.  You asked and we listened! Our first class was such a success with Chantelle that we are happy to continue offering these valuable workshops on important financial topics at no cost to you. This event is sponsored by dRC and the Cape Fear Asset Building Coalition. Space is limited so please call ahead to register at 910-815-6618.

2. The disAbility Resource Center (dRC) will have free computer classes
Monday through Thursday. For more information please contact Gary at 910-815-6618. While there, be sure to ask about the refurbished computer program that might help you acquire your own laptop.

3. dRC Career Camp for Young Adults – dRC is hosting its 2nd Summer Career Camp for young adults between the ages of 17-30. The camp will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the dRC office from July 16- 19. The camp is FREE but space is limited.
