Memorial Day events listed

Following is a list of Memorial Day events today.

 · AMHERST – Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. at Amherst Common, proceeding along North Pleasant Street to War Memorial on Triangle Street for ceremonies at Veterans War Memorial Pool at 10 a.m. Robert Romer, Rep. Ellen Story and Sen. Stan Rosenberg will speak.

 · BELCHERTOWN – Commemoration at 8:30 a.m., South Cemetery. Parade at 10 a.m. at Town Hall, proceeding to the town common. US Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (retired) Kathleen M. Wood will speak.

 · CHESTERFIELD – Commemoration by American Legion Cummington Post 304 at 11 a.m., Chesterfield Post Office to the North Street Cemetery.

 · CUMMINGTON – Commemoration by American Legion Cummington Post 304 at 9 a.m., at the West Cummington Cemetery and at 9:30 a.m. at the Honor Roll outside the Community House.

 · EASTHAMPTON – Commemoration begins with pancake breakfast, 7 to 10 a.m., at Easthampton Community Center, 12 Clark St. Ceremony 7:30 a.m. at American Legion Post 224, followed by volleys at Clapp Street monument, East Street Cemetery, St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Old Town Hall, Main Street Cemetery, Brookside Cemetery and St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Parade beginning 10:30 a.m. at Clark Street and proceeding to Emily Williston Memorial Library for ceremonies at 11 a.m.

 · GOSHEN – Commemoration by American Legion Cummington Post 304 at 10 a.m. from Goshen center to Goshen cemetery.

 · GRANBY – Parade starts at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and proceeds to the Memorial Boulder in the center of town for ceremonies. Parade continues to West Cemetery and Batchelor Street Cemetery (via bus).

 · NORTHAMPTON – Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Trinity Row in Florence and proceeds to Florence Center for ceremonies at Park Street Cemetery. Speaker: Mayor David Narkewicz. A meal catered by the Smithsonian Grill follows at VFW Post 8006.

 · PLAINFIELD – Traditional ham dinner at noon at Plainfield Town Hall. Parade at 1 p.m. starting at Town Hall and proceeding to the Hilltop Cemetery for ceremony at the Honor Roll monument. Return to War Memorial in front of Plainfield Congregational Church for ending ceremony.

 · SOUTHAMPTON – Parade starts at 9 a.m. at the Norris School, proceeding to Center Cemetery for ceremony. Parade continues to the Veterans Monument for presentation of Citizen of the Year Award.

 · SOUTH HADLEY – Commemorations: Evergreen Cemetery (9 a.m.); Commons (9:30 a.m.); St. Rose Cemetery (9:45 a.m.); Village Cemetery (10:15 a.m.). Parade starting at 11 a.m. at South Hadley High School, proceeding on Newton Street to Lamb Street then right onto Bridge Street and left onto Main Street for ceremonies at Town Hall. Speaker: Senior Airman Bonnie Harper (noon). Luncheon follows at St. Patrick’s, picnic at Buttery Brook Park.

 · WESTHAMPTON – Commemoration at 10:45 a.m. at Town Common; 11 a.m. flag raising followed by parade to town cemetery for ceremonies. Softball game at 1:30 p.m. at the Hampshire Regional High School.

 · WILLIAMSBURG – Commemoration at cemeteries: St. Mary’s (9:30 a.m.); High Street (10 a.m.); Mountain Street (10:20 a.m.); Old Village Hill (11 a.m.); Village Hill (11:15 a.m.). Parade 1 p.m. at the fire station, proceeding west on North Main Street up Buttonshop Road to Route 9 and east to the Veteran’s Memorial for ceremonies. Speakers: James Cahillane, Steve Connor.

 · WORTHINGTON – Commemoration by American Legion Cummington Post 304 at 8:30 a.m. at the Honor Roll near Worthington Congregational Church.
