It’s more than thousands of books, DVD’s, luscious plants and tempting foods at the Saturday, June 2 annual Saugerties Public Library Book Fair. It’s a Family Affair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kiwanis Ice Arena in Cantine Field, Washington Ave.
Starting at 10 a.m. are karate routines by Lykes Martial Arts, a braille demo by Ed Poll; Town Historian Audrey Klinkenberg highlights the 1915 and 1925 Saugerties census and 1950’s newspaper clippings; join children’s book author Jacky Davis and award winner poet Marilyn Walker.
At 11 a.m.Harvey Boyer’s Elementary Jazz Band from Woodstock and Onteora entertains.
Three floral arrangements, created by Anne Marie Davis from Adams Fairacres Farms beginning at 12 noon, will be raffled in addition to items donated by The Flower Garden and Judy’s Floral Shoppe.
Kevin McLaren and Friends conclude the musical entertainment at 1 p.m.
Face painting all day. Meet Mickey and Minnie!
Vendors include Astrologer/Tarot card reader Marian Tortorella; jewelry-Althea Meneses; gourmet foods-Linda Fitzpatrick; pottery- Noelle Auriemma;“The Pickle Man”; and Girl Scout cookies.
Enjoy Lox of Bagels for breakfast, Hungry Bambino pizza for lunch, Dessert Company and homemade bake goods.
A $1 bag sale for books starts at 1 p.m.
Admission is $1 adults only. Children are free.
The Book Fair is the biggest fund raiser of the year, sponsored by the Friends of the SPL ,with all proceeds benefitting the Library and its programs. Co-chairs are Elaine White (246-2334) and Barbara Kaisek (246-6828).
