Memorial Day weekend rings with honors

Lincoln National Cemetery

Volunteers are wanted to place flags in the Flag-In ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Participants should enter the cemetery by the temporary access road west of the main entrance. They will congregate on Thomas Jefferson Drive at 9 a.m. to receive flags and instructions.

Volunteers also will be needed for the Flag-Out ceremony starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

 

Kankakee County Veterans Council

The Kankakee County Veterans Council is looking for volunteers to help place small flags on veterans’ graves in the three major Kankakee cemeteries: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Memorial Gardens in Aroma Township and Mound Grove Gardens of Memories.
