ASIAN HARBOR, which serves Japanese, Chinese and Thai cuisine, opened Wednesday in Capital City Shopping Center.
It’s the first restaurant for owner Fanny Liu. The building had been MAVERICK FAMILY STEAKHOUSE.
Inside, there’s a sushi bar and seating for 130 at tables and booths.
On the menu are Japanese lunch boxes with an entree (such as beef or chicken teriyaki and vegetable tempura) with miso soup, salad, California roll, potstickers and rice. Other lunch specials include sesame chicken, pork lo mein, long bean saute and more.
Also offered: pad Thai, coconut curry, salmon with black bean sauce, house duck, deep-fried tofu in chili sauce, tropical shrimp, house steak with garlic-ginger sauce, Mongolian beef and many other entrees.
The menu has a wide range of sushi rolls, plus appetizers (spring rolls, dumplings), soups (egg drop, tom yum shrimp), salads (octopus, tuna and avocado) and noodles.

The INN AT 835 HISTORIC HOTEL, 835 S. Second St., will host a Mother’s Day brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On the serving table: herbed chicken breast, baked salmon, wild mushroom ravioli, carving station with baron of beef and cherry-glazed baked ham, made-to-order omelets, cheese board, fresh fruit, peel-and-eat shrimp, salads, sides, breakfast items, fruit pies, petit fours and cheesecake. A special Mother’s Day Tea and program will be offered Saturday, May 12 at the VACHEL LINDSAY HOME STATE HISTORIC SITE, 603 S. Fifth St. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., with the tea beginning at 1 p.m. The buffet-style event will feature tea sandwiches, salad, a variety of sweets and hot tea. Following the tea will be the debut of a new living history presentation, “Now and always, Your Katie.” This half-hour interpretive program is based on the journals, diaries, and papers of Vachel’s mother, Catherine Frazee Lindsay.
Advance reservations for this limited-seating event at $7 each must be made by calling 524-0901. Those who leave reservations by voice mail will receive a follow-up confirmation call.
LINDSAY’S RESTAURANT in the PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN HOTEL, 701 E. Adams St., will offer a Mother’s Day buffet from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Featured: carving station with prime rib of beef and honey-glazed ham; breakfast station with made-to-order omelets, bacon, sausage, O’Brien potatoes and biscuits and gravy; and pasta station with cheese ravioli and penne rigate with choice of sauce. Entrees include chicken with sun-dried tomato cream sauce, salmon with rosemary and garlic and roast pork loin.
