Takurou Fujii and Haruka Ueda win gold medals – Tatsumi International Pool
Takurou Fujii and Haruka Ueda of Japan won gold medals in the events of Men’s 100m freestyle and Women’s 100m freestyle on fifth day of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo.
The championship is an eight-day swimming event, providing a chance to the Japanese swimmers to warm up before the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Fujii remained dominant over his competitors from the start of the race. With his alluring efforts, he remained considerably faster from his following swimmer and reached the finishing end for gold medal by clocking a time of 49.20 seconds.
His gold winning struggle remained nearly half body length ahead of Yuuki Kawachi, who occupied silver medal of the discipline by ending his swim in a time of 49.56 seconds.
He was followed by Shinri Shioura, who stayed just one stroke behind and ended his swim in a time of 49.65 seconds for bronze medal of the event.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Kenji Kobase, who stayed slightly behind his foregoing competitor and tapped the wall with the timing of 49.97 seconds.
Kazuki Nagura was the fifth best finisher of the discipline as he clocked an effort of 50.08 seconds.
In the meantime, Ueda demonstrated her noteworthy efforts and occupied gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle by clocking a time of 54.00 seconds.
With her scintillating struggle, she remained in a lead of full body length ahead of her subsequent rival, Yayoi Matsumoto, who ended second with the timing of 54.80 seconds.
She was trailed by her teammate, Miki Uchida, who proved her mettle for bronze medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 55.08 seconds. Uchida was trailed by Hanae Itou, who snared fourth best position of the discipline by hitting the wall with the timing
of 55.10 seconds.
Her struggle remained one stroke faster from Natsuki Hasegawa, who posted a time of 55.21 seconds for fifth position of the discipline.
Furthermore, the session ended after the completion of all listed events while the winners were awarded accolades for their dazzling swims at medal ceremony of the championship.
