GET out and about this Easter – here’s our guide to 10 top things to do in Sheffield and the region.
ONE: EasterExtravaganza Egg Trail, Renishaw Hall, Sheffield, Sunday and Monday, April 8-9, 10.30am – 4.30pm A weekend of entertaining Easter activities will include an Easter Egg Trail, free face painting, a Punch and Judy show, as well as other family entertainment. TWO: Easter Egg Hunt, Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife Falconry Centre, Woodsetts Road, North Anston, Easter Sunday and Monday, April 8 – 9. Join the trail for a chocolate reward. THREE: Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet Easter Opening, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Abbeydale Road South, Sheffield, tomorrow, Sunday, April 8, 11am – 4pm. Spring arrives at the Hamlet with barrels of family fun! Learn about the trade of copper and make a miniature barrel and take a living history tour. Entry to the hamlet is free. FOUR: Steel City Ghost Tour, Town Hall, Pinstone Street, Sheffield, Monday, April 9, 7.30pm. Have you ever wondered what secrets the city of Sheffield holds? Take a turn around the city at night with Mr P Dreadful, orator and storyteller, ringmaster of this Ghost Walk.
You’ll be amazed at the secrets the industrial city of Sheffield holds in its back streets and alleyways.The tales on this tour are classic ghost stories, the ones that never seem to get old, that always have a good reception no matter what the age of the audience. The tour starts from the steps of Sheffield Town Hall on Pinstone Street. Price is £5 for adults, £4 students OAPs and £2.50 under-13s.
FIVE:Teddy Bears’ Picnic. Reserve entrance at Sedum House, Potteric Carr Nature Reserve, Doncaster, Tuesday, April 10, 10.30am – noon, Take your favourite teddy bear to Potteric Carr Nature Reserve and enjoy a fun-filled morning of crafts, games and outdoor activities at the teddy bears’ picnic. SIX: Wildlife Wander, Shire Brook Valley, Stonelane, Woodhouse, Tuesday, April 10, 10.30am – 12.30pm. Do you enjoy walking? Have you ever wanted to learn more about local nature? Join a slow stroll around Shire Brook Valley to learn about the plants and animals. Finish with a hot drink. Meet at the Alan Bailey Visitor Centre. Tel : 0114 275 1176.
SEVEN: Nature Detectives, Endcliffe Park, Tuesday, April 10, 1pm – 3pm. Head to Endcliffe Park to find out about animal tracks and signs and make a mammal tracking tunnel to take home. Meet at the Ranger base near the Hunters Bar roundabout. Tel: 0114 268 6196
EIGHT: Great Tree Day, Hardwick Hall, Doe Lea, Chesterfield, Wednesday, April 11, 11am – 4pm. Join Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and the National Trust for a family event to celebrate everything about trees. There will be activists, crafts and walks to inspire even the youngest visitors. NINE: Walk Dine with Wortley Hall, Wortley Hall, Thursday, April 12, 5.45pm. Enjoy a summer evening guided walk around Wortley Hall’s grade II listed Italianate gardens. Then retire to the Courtyard restaurant for a three-course dinner. Tickets £21.50 (non-refundable deposit of £10pp required at time of booking). TEN: Mary’s Marvellous Vintage Craft Market, St Mary’s Church, Bramall Lane, Sheffield, next Saturday, April 14, 10am – 5pm

* Lambing at Whirlow Hall Farm, Whirlow Hall Farm Trust, Whirlow Lane, Sheffield, Tuesday, April 10, 11am – 3pm
SKIP along to Whirlow Hall Farm this Easter for the farm’s second Lambing Open Day. Staff will introduce you to their new-born lambs this Tuesday, April 10.
A wonderful experience for children to see the magic of new mothers with their babies.
The experienced farm team will be giving talks throughout the day and will happily answer questions.
Take a stroll around the farm and meet all the other animals including Beef Shorthorn Cross calves, pigs and piglets – and if you are lucky you might even see a lamb being born!
Free activities for children on the day: face painting, pony rides, Easter egg hunts and more!
The Whirlow BBQ offers a tasty lunch, or cosy up in the café with a hot drink before buying some of the farm’s high welfare meats and local produce from the shop.
