Easter events sprout this weekend

The grass is greening and the birds are chirping. Easter is almost here. And for kids, it means the hunt for little plastic eggs stuffed with candy.

Here is a listing of area Easter egg hunts and special events with the big bunny.

Easter Bonanza

The Majestic Town Mall Market, 150 N. Schuyler Ave., Kankakee, is hosting an Easter Bonanza for all ages on Saturday. Schedule is as follows:

9 a.m. — Greet the Easter bunny

9:30-10:30 a.m. — Easter basket decorating and Easter egg hunt

10 a.m.-noon — Children’s programs by representatives of the Kankakee River State Park

10:30-1 p.m. — Activities with representatives from the Exploration Station

1:30-2:30 p.m. — “Paint with Robert and Amy”

2-3:30 p.m. — “Learn to Coupon” with Teri O’Conner

9 a.m.-4 p.m. — Amy Peters will host children’s activities and sing songs from her new CD.

Flashlight
egg hunt

The Kankakee Valley Park District is hosting a flashlight Easter egg hunt at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at Governor Small Memorial Park.

Park at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1200 W. Calista St.

Bring your Easter baskets, flashlights and cameras. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures after the hunt. The event is free and is for children 12 years old and younger.

 

Egg hunt
at courthouse

The annual Easter egg hunt on the Kankakee County Courthouse lawn will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The event is sponsored by the Kankakee Area Jaycees and Walgreens and assisted by the Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School Key Club.

Kids sixth grade and younger will be grouped for the hunt. Bring your own basket.

 

Easter extravaganza

The Bourbonnais Township Park District will host its Breakfast With the Bunny at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Recreation Station, 770 E. Franklin St., Bradley. The cost is $6 residents; $8 nonresidents. Doughnuts, milk and juice will be served. Children must be accompanied by an adult and registration is required. Call 815-933-9905 for details.

Following the breakfast, the park district will have its Easter Egg Extravaganza, scheduled at 10 a.m. at Perry Farm Park, 459 N. Kennedy Dr., Bradley. This event is free.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Each age group will be assigned a section of the park to hunt for eggs. Kids can also have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny. Call 815-933-9905 for details.

 

Easter egg hunt
in Beecher

The Beecher Chamber of Commerce Easter egg hunt will be held at 11 a.m. March 31 at Firemen’s Park, 673 Penfield St.

It is not necessary to preregister, but those who do will be eligible to win one of 21 large Easter baskets. Winners must be present.
