Monday

Smaller is better

Tiesto is one of the world’s biggest DJs, regularly packing festivals and megaclubs. It’s a shock — and a can’t-miss event — to find the Dutch house master spinning at the intimate Josephine lounge.

Wednesday

Arena rock redux

A wild frontman, long guitar solos, fist-pumping anthems — Van Halen is back to do right by arena rock. Catch David Lee Roth, Eddie and the rest of the band at Verizon Center.

Thursday through Saturday

Basil Twist takes the stage

The Basil Twist festivities continue this week with the puppeteer’s three-night stint at the Clarice Smith Center. He’ll be performing his signature work, “Symphonie Fantastique.”

Friday through Sunday

A darker shade of ‘Snow White

French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier designed the risque costumes for Ballet Preljocaj’s not-for-children adaptation of the Brothers Grimm tale this weekend at the Kennedy Center.

Saturday

Go fly a kite

Keep your fingers crossed for a breezy day. The annual Kite Festival takes over the Washington Monument grounds with demonstrations, competitions and the chance to make your own high-flying creation.
